Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. Harris is the first female vice president and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as also the first African American and second Asian American vice president. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and cannabis legalization as a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
